The Sustainable Development Goals – Tracking Progress and Engaging Stakeholders in Review

Essential to fulfilling the commitment of achieving the 17 SDGs is a robust follow up and review process which helps take stock of progress, share experience and provide guidance and recommendations for follow up actions. In Asia and the Pacific, several mechanisms have been established to strengthen the follow up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

The Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, since its inauguration in 2013, has evolved to the most comprehensive and inclusive platform for follow up and review. The multi-stakeholder forum was integrated by member States as part of the ESCAP Conference structure in 2017.

The Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report is an annual assessment of the progress towards the SDGs in Asia and the Pacific and its sub regions. Since its first iteration in 2016, the SDG Progress Report has evolved to mobilise contributions across regional UN entities and serve as the critical reference for all stakeholders in the region to prioritise their policy and programmes towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda

The SDG Data Gateway provides publicly available access to available data and statistics of SDG indicators on current status and progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 58 regional Member states of ESCAP. The Gateway draws official SDG data from global database and offers a regional window and analysis.

The ESCAP-ADB-UNDP Asia Pacific SDG Partnership, building on the long-standing work of the regional partnership on MDGs since 2001, focuses on producing a suite of knowledge products on the follow up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
